Do traffic safety systems keep the exact specifications and don’t change? Of course not. By constantly analyzing the roads and accidents, it becomes clear that some issues need to be solved and thus improve the traffic systems.

What is the Mach Standard in traffic safety systems?

To ensure the efficiency of traffic safety systems, these systems must conform to international specifications and be approved by the road authorities, such as the Ministry of Transportation and Logistics and the General Authority for Roads.

Therefore, the American MASH standard is one of the most important standards that traffic safety systems must comply with to ensure the efficiency of these systems when they are installed on the road and start using them.

Mach Standard in traffic safety systems

The MASH standard was first established in 2016. By the end of 2019, there was a constant process of changing traffic safety systems to conform to the MASH standard. To understand why traffic safety systems are being changed to comply with the MASH standard, it is important to understand the risk of systems not meeting the MASH standard.

How do Shawahid’s traffic safety systems comply with the MASH standard?

As we mentioned in the previous paragraph, the MASH standard is one of the standards that traffic systems must comply with before they can be used.

Therefore, Shawahid has designed all of its traffic systems to comply with the international specifications and standards issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Logistics and the Roads General Authority in the Saudi Road Code. It has also ensured that its traffic safety systems, known as shock absorbers, are compliant with MASH standards.

And subjecting them to testing before using them. Traffic safety systems are tested in crash labs.

Changes to the MASH standard for traffic safety systems

Through continuous analysis of road accidents and the performance of traffic safety systems, issues that could expose drivers to serious risks are detected.

Over the past three years, there have been notable developments in traffic barrier systems conforming to the MASH (Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware) standards. These updates aim to enhance road safety, improve installation efficiency, and reduce long-term costs. Here are some of these updates

Sentry Truck Mounted Attenuatour (TMA)

The truck-mounted attenuator device has been upgraded with reflective films to enhance visibility and alert drivers to minimize collisions.

Pedestrian and Cyclist Barrier Design

In 2024, a research study proposed a new design for barriers intended to protect pedestrians and cyclists from vehicular impact. The design focuses on meeting MASH standards while ensuring smooth transitions between different types of barriers.

Shawahid’s role in the development of MASH-compliant traffic safety systems

Shawahid Industrial Roads Company has developed some of its systems following the MASH standard and international specifications.

Roller barrier in traffic safety

This development can be easily observed in our Safety Roller Barriers, as well as our Crush Cushion systems and End Terminal Barriers. To ensure the best performance and maximum protection for drivers and passengers.

You can obtain these systems through our communication means.
